About the Brand
Retold Story is the brand conceptualized and created by Alison Strub. I began the brand while receiving my Bachelor of Arts in English and Government at George Mason University when I became increasingly interested in the usage of typical materials in atypical ways. I enjoy creating pieces that encourage the viewer to reassess the typical components of everyday objects and to view these objects different ways. I design and hand make all the pieces on the website and they are all custom one-of-a-kind pieces. Nothing is mass produced or produced overseas.Where the Materials Come From
I use the surrounding community as inspiration and support. I receive a lot of found objects I use in jewelry and art from Freecycle as well as friends and family. Recently I've been interested in militaria and have been recruiting the help of the many members of the Armed Forces stationed at Fort Myer, Henderson Hall, and Quantico in Northern Virginia. Thanks to everyone who has provided me with old uniforms, buttons, and interesting imagery. Also, some of my terrific friends from far flung places around the globe send me unique found objects and pieces. Summer yard sales and flea markets also provide a lot of material and interesting vintage pieces.About the Artist

I am a freelance web designer/developer and build websites (including this one) using HTML/CSS, PHP/MySQL or Coldfusion/SQL. I prefer to do front-end and back-end and build search engine optimized websites, often with Web 2.0 custom installs of Wordpress/bbPress integrated with Facebook, Twitter (via Feedburner). I rarely use JavaScript anymore unless the website calls for JQuery or Mootools. Email me to see my full portfolio.Customer Responses
