Material Word Exhibit: Fall for the Book 2009

Material Word: Book Arts and Visual Poetry

Description: How do you read without words? write with metal? fold a poem into being? “Material Word” features artist’s books, altered books, visual poems, and poem-objects by Mason students, alumni, and faculty, including students of Mason’s School of Art Book Arts courses and of the English Department’s Bookish Beasts and Concrete Visual Collage courses. Work by some of the writers featured in this year’s Fall for the Book will also be on view. Artists include Jennifer Fairfax, Ashley Ford, Johanna Mueller, Eric Pankey, Nancy Pearson, Alison Strub, Erwin Thamm, and more.
