Zipper Trends This Fall

I have noticed a zipper trend this season and I am really excited about it. I saw it at both Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. Really easy to duplicate with a $2 brass zipper. They simply pulled the zipper apart and sewed the cloth (non zippered side) down to the shirt. Urban Outfitters’ has zippers all around the collar but Forever 21 has their zipper spirals on one side. This vindicates the neatness of the zipper necklace I made http://www.retoldstory.com/detail-necklaces.php?ItemID=28.

The shirts are both around $20 at both stores at Tysons since Urban Outfitters has them on sale. They also have zipper head bands.

Long Hair, Hair Dye, & Hair Care

I am growing my hair out needed motivation. Courtney, my friend, has long hair and loves to color it. Keeping long hair healthy is a big battle for us. She usually dyes her hair shades of red, and since red is a hard color to maintain it means lots of expensive (and drying) hair dye. Luckily, she has discovered two great sites to motivate girls to not cut their hair and dye their hair naturally using henna, indigo, etc.

The Long Hair Community  is composed of many people all devoted to hair. They are really supportive on a variety of topics, including hair loss. Considering they spend years and years growing out their hair, they have a lot of great ideas on maintaining hair. Some advocate never shampooing your hair (and instead using silicone-free conditioner as shampoo). I am going to try it but first I have to buy some (apprently V05 works). You can learn about tested treatments for shiny hair (like something as simple as cold water!) and what never to do to your hair.

Henna for Hair is a site I am trying to avoid right now since I’m trying to not dye my hair. Even though these dyes are natural I don’t want to deal with the upkeep right now, either. However, it is a hard battle since every day I am tempted to either dye or cut it. However, I am considering doing the gray hair henna dye  since it seems like it would mostly cover the gray (and I have plenty!) rather mess with my natural color. They say that after using henna your haire really shines, and my hair (after Japanese straightening) could definitely use that.
